There's some legitimately scary sci-fi horror here. We assume Zerg acid got Holt, but while the armor is hanging on the rack, we see the acid that splashed his shoulder has damaged the armor but hasn't destroyed it. I think the Dominion is using an organic solvent to wash the marines out of the armor after it's recovered, to restore it faster. The only thing the solvent leaves is the suit, and the nametag which is made out of the same metal. (Whatever happened to Holt did not damage his name tag.) That they would go to such lengths to keep restoring the same suits suggests that Terran marine armor, which is said to be laughably ineffective against the Zerg, is still the best armor mankind can produce.
