  1. Here is a desert the size of a man’s ambition, and a young emperor who has discovered that winning the universe is rather like inheriting a large and ungrateful family. Sand blows, eyes burn blue, and everyone speaks as though the end of the world were a scheduled appointment. It is very grand, and very serious, and one suspects that somewhere off-camera a prop man is still trying to keep the wind from blowing the wrong direction. Mankind has always liked its catastrophes to arrive with good lighting.

  2. Fun fact : To create the iconic, mechanical-sounding clicking and rhythmic purring of the massive sandworms, sound designer Mark Mangini didn't use computer-generated noises. Instead, he recorded the sound of a microphone pressed against his own armpit while cupping his hand. They also used the sound of dry leaves being dragged across a trampoline, and the heavy breathing of a bulldog

  3. Fun fact : When Frank Herbert finished writing the original Dune novel in the early 1960s, it was rejected by more than 20 major publishing houses. They thought it was far too long and too complicated for science fiction readers. The book was finally picked up by Chilton Books—a company that, at the time, was almost exclusively known for printing automobile repair manuals!

  4. Trying to figure out the hype around the Dune movies. I remember thinking Dune was mehh till someone told me to read the books. Instead I listened to the entire audio book and was mind blown by how great it was. Changed my whole outlook on the Dune Franchise. Then I had 0 idea how people could read those books and see these movies and be pleased. The movies are a far cry from how good the books actually are. I would rather wait till AI gets better or a higher production studio remakes it and retells the entire story. Being people have 0 idea on what they are truly missing out on.
